Set up locations and capabilities

A location is a top-level StoreMink workspace shared by inventory, orders, Point of Sale, pickup, returns, and fulfilment. It is not owned by the POS settings area.

Create or edit a location

1. From the dashboard, open Locations.
2. Create a location or open an existing one.
3. Choose the location type and enter its complete address, state, PIN code, contact details, GST details, and receipt information where needed.
4. Keep it active when staff and routing may use it.
5. Choose its capabilities and save.

The six capabilities

• Sell here: allows Point of Sale work at the location.
• Fulfil online orders: makes its stock eligible for website delivery routing.
• Customer pickup: lets shoppers choose the shop for collection. It depends on Sell here.
• Accept returns: is one prerequisite for an eligible website order to be returned at this shop, and it depends on Sell here. It cannot activate website returns by itself. The store-wide Returns settings group is not currently rendered in the merchant dashboard; if this workflow is unavailable, contact StoreMink support instead of promising it to customers.
• Receive stock: allows inbound receiving into this location.
• Transfer stock: allows stock transfers involving this location.

StoreMink prevents the last online-fulfilment location from being turned off through the normal location workflow because delivery orders still need a source.

Location access for staff

A non-superadmin assigned to particular locations sees only permitted location-shaped data. For non-superadmins, no location assignments means unrestricted access to all locations; it does not mean no access. Superadmins remain store-wide.

The location name shown in the top bar explains the current context. It is not a universal switch that silently changes every page. Use each page's location control where one is provided.

Plans and additional locations

Location creation and some capabilities depend on the active plan. The Locations page shows the current included allowance and live price, if any, for an additional location. Do not rely on an old quoted price. Releasing a paid location takes effect according to the subscription cycle, and lowering a plan never silently deletes a shop.

Before enabling fulfilment or Shiprocket

Complete the Indian address and monitored contact phone. Shiprocket warehouse sync skips locations without the required address data, even when Fulfil online orders is on.
