Process an in-store sale

Add products, attach or create a customer, enter a GSTIN, hold a cart, take payment, and finish a sale safely.

Finding a product with options

The catalogue lists one tile per product, not one per option, so a shirt in five sizes takes one tile rather than five. The tile shows how many options the product has and a price range when they differ. Tap it to choose the option, then that exact option goes into the cart.

Each option shows its own price, its stock at this register's location, and its SKU, so you can answer a customer without leaving the screen. An option with no stock is listed but cannot be tapped. The tile itself is only greyed out when every option has run out, because one option in stock still means you can sell the product.

Opening the picker adds nothing to the cart. Press Escape, or tap outside it, to go back.

Searching and scanning skip this step. Type a name, SKU, or barcode and the results are the exact options themselves, so tapping one adds it directly. Scanning a barcode belonging to a specific option adds that option straight away, and works even while the picker is open, because the item in your hand settles the question faster than tapping does.

Stock on a tile is the total across the options behind it, counted at this register's location. A product with no stock tracking shows no figure rather than a zero.

To put a single option on the grid as its own tile, use Edit layout and place just that option. Placing two or more options of the same product groups them behind one tile instead.

Use the Sell screen for an ordinary counter checkout. StoreMink checks the live price, stock, customer, approval, and payment before it writes the sale.

Add products

  1. Open Sell.
  2. Tap a product, scan its barcode, or search by name, SKU, or barcode.
  3. The catalogue shows one tile per product. A product with options shows how many it has and its price range; tap it and choose the option you need, with its price, stock at this location and SKU shown for each. A product with no options goes straight into the cart.
  4. Change the quantity in the cart if needed.
  5. Review the subtotal, discount, tax, and total.

Identify the customer by mobile

  1. Select Charge after reviewing the cart.
  2. Enter the customer's mobile number. The box accepts digits only. It is set to +91 for India; change the country code beside it first if the number is from somewhere else, and the expected length follows that choice.
  3. Select OK.

StoreMink does not search while you type. Selecting OK performs one exact lookup. If the mobile already belongs to a customer, their saved name, email and available store credit appear on the Payment screen, whether that customer was recorded at the till or created their own account online. If the number is new, StoreMink asks for their first name before you can continue, with an optional last name and email, so they are recognised next time. A name is required: the register no longer records a number on its own. Mistyped it? Select Change number above the fields. The digits come back for you to correct, and anything you had typed for the wrong number is cleared.

Check the displayed customer before taking money. Select Change number to submit a different mobile before the first payment is added. A customer recorded at the till keeps their in-store history and store credit when they later create an account online with the same mobile: that account joins the existing record instead of starting a new one, so nobody ends up on your customer list twice.

Add a business GSTIN

Enter the buyer's GSTIN when it is needed on the receipt. StoreMink validates the format, changes it to uppercase, and prints it even when no customer account is attached.

Hold a sale

Select Hold sale to clear the counter for the next customer. A held sale keeps the selected products, quantities, discount, attached customer, GSTIN, and note. It is shared with other tills at the same location, but one till can claim a particular held sale at a time. A location can keep up to 20 held sales. Holding does not reserve stock or freeze prices, so StoreMink uses current prices and live stock when the sale resumes. Products or variants deleted meanwhile are dropped with a notice. Finish or discard a held sale when it is no longer needed; unclaimed holds expire after seven days.

If the register page reloads

An in-progress sale is kept in the browser tab it was started in, so reloading the register — or coming back to it after browsing another POS screen — restores the selected products, quantities, line discounts, order discount and GSTIN. The cart shows Restoring the sale in progress… for a moment while it reloads.

Like a held sale, only the choices are kept: StoreMink applies current prices and live stock when the basket comes back, and a product deleted meanwhile is dropped with a notice. The attached customer and receipt email are not kept — enter the mobile again at Charge.

This safety net is limited to the same browser tab, and it is cleared when the till locks or anyone signs out, because the basket must not be waiting for whoever signs in next. It is also cleared after 12 hours, and it is not shared between locations or between two register tabs. To keep a sale across a lock, a different till or a longer break, use Hold sale instead — a held sale is saved to your store, not to the browser. If your browser blocks site data, the register still works normally; only this reload safety net is unavailable.

Take payment and complete

  1. Select Charge, check the country code, enter the customer's mobile, and select OK.
  2. For a number StoreMink has not seen, enter their first name, and optionally a last name and email, then select Save and continue. Select Change number first if the mobile itself is wrong.
  3. Check the resolved customer on the Payment screen.
  4. Choose the payment method that matches what happened.
  5. For cash, enter the amount received and check the change. For a card terminal or UPI / QR, confirm the payment on that device before recording it. Razorpay opens and verifies its own payment.
  6. Complete the sale, then print the receipt or start a new sale.

Receipt email and GSTIN are optional. Expand Add receipt email or GSTIN only when they are needed; they do not add another customer-lookup step.

If live stock changed while the cart was open, StoreMink refuses the sale before moving stock. For an online gateway payment that was already captured, follow the on-screen retry guidance and do not charge the customer a second time.

Recognise items in the cart

Each cart line keeps a small product photo beside its name, variant, quantity and price. Products without an image use a package placeholder, so the line remains easy to scan without changing the checkout steps.
