Customise the register and scan products

The Sell screen is designed for quick taps and scans. The product grid can be arranged for each location without hiding the rest of the catalogue.

Edit the quick product layout

1. Open Sell as a manager or owner.
2. Select Edit layout.
3. Drag commonly sold products into the grid.
4. Arrange them in the order that is easiest for the counter.
5. Save the layout.

A cashier does not see Edit layout. A product left out of the quick grid is still available through search or barcode scan. If a location has no saved layout, the register shows the whole catalogue.

Search for a product

Select the search box and enter a product name, SKU, or barcode. Search uses the catalogue cached on the device, so results appear quickly even on a slow connection. If a product was created after the last sync, StoreMink asks the server before reporting no match.

Use a hardware barcode scanner

Connect a scanner that behaves like a keyboard. Scan a barcode from anywhere on the Sell screen. On a tablet, the scan still works when the search field is not focused, and it will not re-add a product tile that was tapped just before the scan.

Use the phone or tablet camera

1. Select the camera scanner on the Sell screen.
2. Allow camera access in the browser.
3. Place one barcode clearly inside the frame.
4. Close the camera when the item is added.

Use the register on a phone or portrait tablet

On a smaller screen, Products and Cart are separate full-width views so product names, photos and checkout controls do not become narrow strips. Add as many products as needed from Products; the cart count and total stay visible at the bottom. Select View cart or Cart to review quantities, discounts and the total, then select Products to add more. On a wider till, the product grid and cart remain side by side.

Managers and owners can select the grid icon beside the Products and Cart switch to edit the product layout. Finish or close layout editing before opening the cart.

On a touch-first phone or tablet, the register opens the software keyboard only after you select an editable field. Typing in search, discounts, customer details or payment fields keeps the page at its normal scale. Products and Cart each own their vertical scroll; reaching the end does not move the page behind the register.

If a camera scan button is available, the search field shrinks to share the same row without pushing either control beyond the screen. A paired hardware scanner still works when no field is focused.

Understand unavailable products

Tracked products with no available stock move to the end of the grid and cannot be added. Restocking returns them to their saved position. Product, price, publication, variant, and stock changes sync in the background. The screen catches up when the tab becomes visible or the network returns.

The cache is not an offline till

The cache makes browsing and searching resilient, but it is never the final authority for price or stock. StoreMink checks the live product and shelf again when the sale is completed.
