What happens after a downgrade or failed payment

StoreMink does not delete store data because a plan becomes lower. Products, variants, media references, staff profiles, roles, groups, memberships, coupon links, blog drafts and submissions, page code, analytics layouts, campaign history, Shiprocket credentials and mappings, locations, inventory, orders, fulfilment, and POS history stay stored.

  • Every existing product remains visible and editable, even when the current count is above the new limit. Creating another product is blocked until the store upgrades or falls below the limit.
  • Existing staff and active coupons remain in place. New invitations or newly activated coupons are checked against the current limit.
  • Paid features become unavailable at runtime, but their saved settings and records are not reset. Upgrading to an eligible plan restores access to the same data.
  • Storefront custom-code sections pause below Basic and return when Basic or Pro is restored. A retained custom-code section can stay or be removed while the rest of the page remains editable, but its code cannot be added or changed below Basic. Customer blog drafts and submissions remain stored and return the same way.
  • A saved custom domain is retained but resolves only on Pro. The StoreMink subdomain remains available.
  • Existing customer groups and memberships remain editable below Basic, but creating another group is paused. An unused custom role may still be deleted, while creating or editing roles waits for Basic or Pro.
  • Existing Shiprocket connections, warehouse mappings, shipments, analytics layouts, campaigns, and POS records remain stored while paid controls are locked. If a retained store was using Shiprocket rates, shoppers receive the retained manual or free shipping option instead of a merchant plan message.

This soft-limit behavior applies when a merchant chooses a downgrade and when billing moves a store to Free after a declined or unresolved payment.

What a paid plan needs before you can pay

A paid plan is an autopay subscription, so the first payment also authorises future renewals. StoreMink needs a billing email address and an Indian mobile number for the store before it can open that authorisation, because the payment provider sends the pre-debit notice to them.

  • Both are saved during signup from the email and phone number you verified.
  • You can review or correct them at any time under Settings → Taxes & invoices, in the store contact fields.
  • The mobile number must be a ten-digit Indian mobile. A landline or an incomplete number is not accepted.
  • Your own verified number under Settings → Account is used first when it is present.

If Subscribe reports that autopay could not be prepared, add or correct those two fields and try again. No payment is taken when that message appears, so nothing is charged twice by retrying.

Choose how renewals are charged

Before Checkout opens you choose the rail your autopay mandate is registered on. The choice applies to the first payment and to every renewal after it.

  • Card — renewals are debited from a credit or debit card you authorise once.
  • UPI Autopay — renewals are debited from a UPI app you approve once. Choose this if you would rather not keep a card on file.

The payment window only offers the rail you picked, because the authorisation is created for that rail specifically. The rail cannot be changed after a mandate is authorised; to move to the other one, cancel the subscription and subscribe again.

If you close the payment window without paying and come back, StoreMink reopens the same window rather than creating a second one, so you are never charged twice. If you pick a different rail at that point you get the new one, unless a payment has already been tried in the old window — in which case the earlier rail is kept and a message on screen says so.

Changing your mind before you pay

You can go back and pick a different plan or billing period at any point before the first payment succeeds. The pending payment is re-priced to the plan you have just chosen, so the amount Razorpay asks for always matches the plan you end up on.

If a payment for your earlier choice is still going through, StoreMink asks you to finish it or wait a minute rather than changing the amount underneath it. Nothing is charged while that message is on screen. A payment you started and abandoned — a UPI request you never approved, for example — does not hold you up: the next attempt replaces it.

Change, cancel, or resume a plan

  • A higher-cost change applies after the required payment.
  • A cheaper or equal-cost change is normally scheduled for the end of the paid cycle.
  • Before a scheduled cancellation takes effect, use Keep my plan to resume.
  • Do not pay twice when Razorpay captured a payment but confirmation is pending. Refresh first so StoreMink can reconcile it.

AI-credit packs are separate one-time purchases on every plan. Purchased and granted credits do not expire and remain with the store through plan changes.
